Meaning of 'unicorn'

The unicorn was mentioned in the King James version of the Bible. The unicorn was remarkable for strength, purity, gentleness and unconquerable spirit.

References are from the King James version.*
*Only in the KJV (King James Version) is the word "unicorn" actually used. Subsequent translations use other words, such as "ox". There were always a number of scribes laboriously copying down the text. As the Bible was translated into other languages by humans, they could make mistakes, which accounts for discrepancies in translations.
